How to Grow Melons

The Pike melon is a very sweet melon variety that was bred in the 1930s. The sweet fragrant fruit is heavily netted on the outside with a juicy orange flesh. These melons can weigh 3-6 pounds depending on growing conditions.

The Golden Beauty Casaba Melon has a creamy white aromatic spicy flesh! This heirloom melon, also known as the "Casaba Fruit," has a rind that matures gold. Golden Beauty Casaba is an 8 lb. variety that is very heat tolerant.

Planters Jumbo is a great tasting cantaloupe that has a firm rind, smooth heavy netting, and thick deep orange flesh. This melon is 7x6" diameter, 4-4.5 lb. and is Powdery and Downy Mildew resistant. The Charentais Melon is an old French heirloom with a superb flavor! This variety is a well known 2-3 lbs. heirloom melon that has light grey-green skin with a vibrant orange flesh. Charentais is one of the best tasting melons that is super sweet and very fragrant! This melon sells great at farmer's markets.

The Rich Sweetness is a very petite little melon that typically stays the size of a baseball! These little melons usually do not exceed a quarter pound. Flesh has a dark-orange appearance that is crisp to the bite. Sugar Cube is highly disease resistant and provides an exceptionally long harvest window. Well-suited for northern and southern regions.
